Today on Sky Sports Racing: Lingfield hosts eight-race all-weather card | Racing News
Mumayaz and Gogo Yubari look set to clash in the feature of eight races on Lingfield’s all-weather this afternoon, live on Sky Sports Racing…
1.42 Lingfield – Mumayaz and Gogo Yubari headline
Tony Carroll leads the way in the All-Weather Championships and attempts to continue his fine run with Mumayaz in the £30 In Free Bets With BetUK Handicap. He is proving remarkably consistent with a record of five wins and 19 places from 50 starts. Jack Doughty gets aboard once again for the eighth time having won on him at Bath back in October.
Gogo Yubari has been kept busy by Dylan Cunha with four runs in quick succession and she looks to get back on the scoresheet here.
Recon Mission approaches his 72nd race and seems in better heart than ever, running with great credit the last twice, and he remains on the same mark today.
3.12 Lingfield – In-form Tortured Soul and Alfheim headline
Alfheim has been a revelation since joining the George Boughey yard from Jessica Harrington, winning on her last three appearances. She’s built a really good relationship with rider Tommie Jakes and she will be a danger to all under the penalty when she lines up in the Free Bets With BetUK Bet Club Handicap.
Tortured Soul was a winner last time and is up 3lb for his Wolverhampton victory. Neil Callan is back in the plate with Jack Doughty keeping the ride on Tony Carroll’s other runner Upepo.
James Owen and Hector Crouch, who team up here with Khangai, have also been doing very well in the all-weather Championship standings. With three wins and three places in his last six starts, Khangai could well be in with a shout for all-weather Horse of The Year and he looks to improve his credentials here.
1.12 Lingfield – Unbeaten Al Waqidi returns from a lay-off
Very rarely do you see a horse off the track for the best part of four years, but Jamie Osborne brings the unbeaten Al Waqidi back from a 1368-day absence in the Best Odds Guaranteed At BetMGM Novice Stakes. He was with Charlie Appleby in his younger days, justifying strong support on debut at Wolverhampton before scoring in a hot looking Novice Stakes at Newmarket. Having cost £16k in the Horses in Training sales, Osborne looks to have a nice prospect on his hands if he finds his old form.
Groovy Baby has become a bit of a punter’s nightmare, with a string of placed efforts to her name, latterly going down by a neck at Newcastle last time. She looked the winner before being caught late but probably bumped into a fairly useful type there.
Next Trick joins Archie Watson having been with Dermot Weld and could be a shrewd bit of business given her outstanding pedigree. Off a rating of 67 she looks to break her maiden tag in a winnable looking race.
