Recently Izzy wrote a feature for our newsletter and we wanted to share her morning routine with you here.
If you have yet to meet Izzy, she is a UK based creator, mindset coach and podcast host. Specializing in mental health and dealing with anxiety herself, Izzy knows that an effective morning routine is key for setting up you up for daily success.
With that, let’s welcome Izzy to the blog to share to her morning rituals.

Wake Up With Izzy Utterson
Your morning routine is crucial because your brain is in theta-alpha frequency on waking, making it highly susceptible to new programming and positive suggestions. Morning cortisol levels are also naturally elevated, which boosts alertness and mental clarity for intention practice- so I LOVE my routine that sets me up to establish positive neural pathways that take me through the day.
6 AM
I wake up and use Mel Robbins’ 5-4-3-2-1 method to get up on the first alarm (something I’ve really had to learn to do is not hit snooze). During winter, I use a Hatch alarm clock, which has been a game changer.
The first 5 minutes of the day, when our brains are in theta-alpha, are essential, so I don’t touch my phone, instead, I hit play on a positive affirmations playlist and go about getting ready. This reinforces positive self-concept and self-image.
RITUALS
I then dry brush using my Skinny Confidential Dry Brush before showering. This is amazing for lymphatic drainage and gentle exfoliation to start the day and get everything moving!
After this, I’ll make my loaded morning water, a.k.a Lauryn’s SEXY WATER, my ultimate habit stack using the Beauty Salt. I take any other supplements with this, and then I’ll make a matcha- I’ve replaced coffee with Matcha and a decaf mushroom blend to reduce my anxiety and set me up for the day.


EXERCISE
My workouts then are either a reformer class or weight training, a long walk or one of Pilates By Bryony’s workouts- UNREAL! Since replacing HIIT and cardio with resistance and weights, my body has transformed.
BREAKFAST
After my workout, I’ll head home to make a high-protein breakfast- either a loaded yogurt bowl with Form protein powder or eggs, smoked salmon and avocado on sourdough. I tend to opt for similar meals so I can plan ahead.
SKINCARE + MAKEUP
Before doing my skincare and makeup for the day, I’ll always use either my TSC Ice Roller, Face Massager or Mint Roller (sometimes all three depending on the levels of puffiness haha) before doing my simple morning skincare and *always* applying my SPF. I love TSC’s because it contains caffeine, so not only does it give me a gorgeous glow, but I always feel like I look so much more awake and refreshed. Since using SPF daily, I’ve noticed such a positive shift in my skin’s overall texture and tone.
DRESSING WITH INTENTION
I then get dressed with intention, who do I want to be and how do I want to show up today? I always think about the dream version of me and ask myself “Would she wear this?” I try to show up as the dream me at least once a day and dressing is the most fun way outside of routine!
WORK
I start my work day around 9am, which is usually a bunch of meetings, planning events or creating content, which I love. My morning routine sets me up so well for all of the chaos, as no day is ever the same!
