Tips to Select the Perfect Spring Wreath

Size Matters

• 20″ – This size wreath is widely available on shelves, but too small for most doors. They tend to feel underwhelming.
• 24″ – This standard size wreath is a great fit for most doors. It’s not too small, not too large and leaves just 6″ on each side.
• 30″ – Use a 30″ wreath on large, oversized or double doors to make an impact.

Material

• Fresh / Dried – Best indoors or covered outdoor areas that are not exposed to full sun and elements.
• Faux – Use indoors or out. If it will be exposed to wind and rain, choose a wreath that looks and feels durable.

Color

• Choose a color that will contrast the color of your door so it is easily visible from the street.

Style

• Contemporary – Choose a wreath that is monochromatic or has limited color that is simple to pair with clean lines.
• Traditional – Garden inspired, tight or loose wreaths both work well, infusing color, if desired.

Traditional faux flowers are perfect for spring wreaths because they are suited to handle the elements. If your front door is exposed to wind, sun and rain, faux flowers are ideal.

Dried Floral Wreaths

Dried flowers are another wreath element that I adore, no matter the season! I’m not the hugest fan of bold, colorful faux flowers on the front of our homes because I like a more neutral palette, so I tend to choose fresh wreaths that dry beautifully for any season.

The faded pastel colors just have my heart, at any time of year! Dried flowers that work well for wreaths include herbs like bay leaves, lavender, heather, and even olive branches and hydrangea.

Lemons are the quintessential fruit of spring and summer, but limes and oranges are beautiful, too! You can choose wreaths with faux fruits to withstand the elements, or find one with sliced, dried oranges or lemons for a more organic touch.

Tip to Hang

To prevent a wreath hanger from swinging and scraping your door, add a bumper to the back where it rests against the wood.
