Red Sox announce key spring training dates, tickets on sale Wednesday

Spring training is a little more than a month away, and Monday the Red Sox announced several key dates as the start of camp approaches.

Truck Day, when the Red Sox’s equipment truck annually departs Fenway Park to begin heading down to Fort Myers, will take place on Feb. 3. Pitchers and catchers are set to report on Feb. 12, and the club’s first full squad workout will take place on Feb. 17.

Workouts are free and open to the public.

Spring training tickets are also set to go on sale this Wednesday at 10 a.m. The Red Sox will play a total of 17 games at JetBlue Park, including 15 Grapefruit League games, a “Futures at Fenway South” game featuring the club’s top prospects, and the annual exhibition against Northeastern University.

The exhibition opener against Northeastern will be played on Feb. 21. Boston’s Grapefruit League opener will be Feb. 22 against the Tampa Bay Rays in Port Charlotte, and the club’s first Grapefruit League game at JetBlue Park will be Feb. 23 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Red Sox will participate in two prospect showcases. The official “Spring Breakout” game will be played March 13 against the Rays in Port Charlotte, and the “Futures at Fenway South” game will be March 14, giving fans an opportunity to see players like Roman Anthony, Marcelo Mayer and Kristian Campbell on the big field in Fort Myers.

Boston will also play a two-game exhibition series against the Monterrey Sultanes in Estadio Mobil Super in Monterrey, Mexico on March 24-25, which will close out the Red Sox’s preseason before the regular season begins in Arlington, Texas against the Rangers on March 27.
