South Sydney’s mascot has spoken out after revelations Cronulla and the Rabbitohs are investigating allegations a nine-year-old was pushed in the face at Shark Park.

Charlie Gallico, or “Reggie The Rabbit” as he’s known, was accused of pushing the boy on Saturday, when the Rabbitohs lost to the Sharks

Sharks and Rabbitohs officials both confirmed they were aware of the incident.

A video posted on TikTok captured an incident where the mascot approaches a young Sharks fan.

“We are investigating what happened and will have no further comment to make until our investigation is complete,” the Rabbitohs said in a statement.

“We have reached out to the boy’s mother to let her know we will be investigating the incident.”

The investigation reportedly started after a social media post from the child’s mother accused Gallico of the assault.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, Gallico accused the boy of grabbing him and said “he didn’t go for a high-five” as his mother has alleged.

“I’m sorry if I did something wrong,” he said.

“… it’s my club and I love it. This job means a lot to me, I’ve been doing it a long time.

Cronulla were contacted before information was passed on to the Rabbitohs and NRL.

The police were also informed but 9news Sydney confirmed they wouldn’t be investigating.

The NRL is making further inquiries.

Rabbitohs fan Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also weighed in on the drama.

“Charlie is a very gentle person, he’s been doing it for a long time, he would never try to hurt anyone,” he said.
