Hot-shooting Asistio helps Rain or Shine seal playoff berth
MANILA, Philippines—Rain or Shine could finally breathe a sigh of relief after securing a spot in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinals on Friday night.
The Elasto Painters clinched the sixth seed after finishing with a 7-5 record following a 106-96 victory over TNT, 106-96, behind the hot shooting of Anton Asistio.

“I’m just very happy that we won today and avoided that playoff for eighth spot. We also landed on the best-of-three series so I’m just happy with the way we fought and competed tonight,” said Asistio.

“At least we’re still on track with our goal to make it to the next round.”
Asistio was given the starting nod by coach Yeng Guiao in the all-important game and he repaid the coaching staff’s trust after leading all locals in scoring with 21 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal.

The Ateneo product went 6-of-7 from long range in 28 minutes of action.

Asistio, however, knows there’s still a lot of work left to be done.
“Coach Yeng really challenges us because even in the past games, even point guards are being posted up so I think the best thing to do as of now is to be tough.”
Rain or Shine takes on Converge in a best-of-three series.
