Now, she shares everything she’s learned with her community, making health feel simple, luxurious, and actually doable. Think: blood sugar-balancing meals that taste good, skincare that supports the gut, and science-backed tips that cut through the noise. Her philosophy? No extremes, no fluff—just practical, cool-girl wellness that helps you look and feel your best. Whether you’re here for the recipes, the gut health deep dives, or just to romanticize your daily rituals, you’re in the right place.

After we Steph came on to walk us through her morning routine, we had to have her back to share how she stays energized, healthy and keeps her skin glowing. In this post she’s going to tell us a bit more about her healing journey and the top tips that made all the difference.

Healing From the Inside Out

What’s going on inside really does matter.

I’ve been on quite the journey. From SIBO and gut dysbiosis to dealing with acne for over 10 years, hormonal imbalances, and even mold exposure—I’ve been through it all. But what I’ve learned is this: healing truly starts from the inside out. Here are the major things that have transformed my body and my health.

Keep Food Simple, But Powerful

When it comes to food, I don’t believe in overcomplicating things. My strategy revolves around eating for blood sugar balance. I prioritize protein, healthy fats (omega-3s are key), fiber, greens, antioxidants, and probiotics in every meal. This approach gives me steady energy, balanced hormones, and keeps cravings at bay—plus, the beauty benefits are incredible. I eat to feel my best, but I also eat to look my best. People often forget that food is fuel—it’s about nourishing your body to perform at its highest level, not just satisfying your taste buds.

Digging Deep: Getting to the Root Cause

Chronic acne, feeling reliant on caffeine, or bloating aren’t just “normal” parts of life. They’re signs that something is off in your body. I can’t tell you how many times I researched my symptoms, but it wasn’t until I did proper testing that I understood what was really going on. Symptoms often overlap with hormonal and gut issues, so getting tested is key. Don’t guess—know what’s really happening under the surface.

Calm Your Nervous System

Stress is a silent disruptor, and you need ways to combat it. For me, the sauna and cold plunge are absolute musts. I also practice deep breathing, which I learned from the book Breath by James Nestor. it’s been a game-changer. Managing your nervous system isn’t just about reducing stress; it’s about creating space for healing. Find the practices that work for you, whether it’s through movement, meditation, or simply unplugging. Your body will thank you.

Bone Broth: My Ultimate Secret

Bone broth has literally transformed my mornings. It’s the perfect start to the day, boosting energy and providing essential nutrients like L-glutamine, collagen, and amino acids. Not to mention, it’s amazing for skin, gut health, hair, nails, and hormones. I drink it before my workouts, too—it’s a killer pre-workout and feels like liquid gold. I love Kroma Wellness’ grass-fed beef packets, but I also make my own lemongrass, turmeric, and ginger bone broth at home. It’s a must-have for my daily routine.

Don’t Skip Oral Health

When I first started working with my functional medicine doctor, I knew she was the real deal when she asked about my oral health. Your mouth is a reflection of your overall health—everything starts there. I swear by tongue scraping and coconut oil pulling every morning. If I miss either, I feel completely off. This might sound small, but oral hygiene plays a huge role in your body’s healing process, so don’t overlook it.

The Power of Sweating

Sweating daily is one of the most underrated practices for skin health and detoxification. For me, the infrared sauna has completely transformed my complexion. I try to sauna 5 times a week for 20-40 minutes, and I can honestly say that my skin is clearer and my body feels lighter. Sweat is a powerful way to release toxins and promote cellular health. So if you’re not already sweating it out, I highly recommend you add it to your routine.

Hydration Isn’t Just About Water

When we talk about hydration, it’s not just about drinking more water. It’s about adding electrolytes and incorporating hydrating foods into your diet—think cucumbers, watermelon, and leafy greens. I also drink tea throughout the day (dandelion tea is my favorite). It’s amazing for liver health, reducing puffiness, and helping with water retention. Hydration should be a holistic practice, supporting your body’s natural detox processes.

Consistency is Everything

I know this one isn’t the most glamorous, but consistency is key. Constant dieting is hard on your gut and digestive system. The goal isn’t perfection—it’s about creating sustainable, healthy habits. That doesn’t mean saying no to the occasional treat, but it’s about not swinging from extremes. Balance is everything, and consistency in your habits will make a big difference in how you feel and look long-term.

It’s Not Just What You Eat, It’s How You Eat

How you eat can impact your digestion just as much as what you eat. If you’re stressed, rushing, or multitasking while you eat, your body feels that. I make it a priority to chew my food thoroughly, eat slowly, and sit down (no eating in front of the TV!). I also try to leave 4 hours between meals to give my body time to rest and digest. Small adjustments like these can make a huge difference in how your body processes nutrients and how you feel overall.

Sleep: The Foundation of Everything

I don’t care what anyone says—sleep is non-negotiable. Your body needs it to repair, restore, and balance itself. Without enough sleep, your hunger hormone ghrelin gets thrown off, and cravings go through the roof. My sleep essentials? No phones in the bed, magnesium supplements, Tulsi tea, and my Hatch alarm clock (it simulates a natural sunrise). If you want to heal from the inside out, sleep is where it all begins.

Healing from the inside out is a journey, not a quick fix. It’s about making intentional, nourishing choices every day that support your body on every level. These are the practices that have helped me, and I know they can help you too. Healing takes time, but with patience and consistency, you’ll see and feel the results.
