Four-star Ohio OT Sam Greer commits to Ohio State

The Ohio State Buckeyes just landed another big piece for its future offensive line. That’s because Akron (Ohio) Hoban four-star offensive lineman Sam Greer announced his commitment to the program.

After the Buckeyes landed Maxwell Riley it really seemed like a lot of the attention shifted to making sure the team also got Greer. The Buckeyes immediately got him back on campus so that he could meet face-to-face with new offensive line coach Tyler Bowen. That relationship has gotten off to a fantastic start resulting in a quick commitment.

Landing Greer is a nice feather in the cap of Bowen who is starting to make his mark on shaping the future Buckeyes offensive line room. Greer has serious interest in Missouri, Florida, Florida State and Michigan. He just went to Michigan to see what they had to offer.

With both Ohio natives in the boat, the Buckeyes can put all its efforts into landing five-stars Jackson Cantwell or Felix Ojo. The team is also in the mix with four-stars Micah Smith and Darius Gray among many more targets.

Greer (6-7, 315) projects as more of a prototypical tackle prospect. He plays left tackle for his high school team but I could see him easily being a very good run-blocking right tackle. Greer fires off the ball well and has long arms to keep opponents at bay.

The Ohio native is a good athlete too though. He’s pretty good on the basketball court and even at his size is explosive enough to dunk the ball with ease.
