Dang, a Lotta People Watched the Fantastic Four Trailer

Earlier this week, Marvel premiered its first trailer for July’s Fantastic Four: First Steps. Excitement for this one’s been brewing for quite a while now, and that interest clearly shows in the recently reported metrics for the film’s teaser.

Per Deadline, total viewership for the First Steps trailer was 202 million across all platforms (including TikTok, which studios don’t always consider) in its first 24 hours. It’s the best traffic for a non-sequel Marvel movie to date, and its third-best overall debut trailer behind Deadpool & Wolverine’s 365 million views and Spider-Man: No Way Home’s 355 million. Fantastic Four’s in-person reveal event, which featured the four leads at the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama, also had the most views ever for any Marvel Studios livestream. And in terms of social media overall, volume for the movie was said to be half a million (higher than Deadpool & Wolverine), and it trended on Twitter alongside keywords like “Galactus,” the stars, and the titular team.

Suffice to say, people are pretty excited to see Marvel’s First Family in theaters again. By the time First Steps hits, it’ll have been nearly a full decade since their last cinematic outing, 2015’s Fant4sticwhich…exists. While no one’s seemed keen to revisit that one yet, it seems some folks on social media have taken to rewatch the first two Fox movies starring Ioan Gruffud, Chris Evans, Jessica Alba, and Michael Chiklis. Evans came back as Storm in Deadpool & Wolverine last year, which for some, also probably played a hand in going back to those films. It also doesn’t hurt that the Four are the first new batch of Marvel Rivals characters and feature in the One World Under Doom comics event starting this week.

Fantastic Four: First Steps comes to theaters on July 25.
