Commitment predictions for eight of the top prospects in the Southeast
CARROLLTON, Ga. — The Under Armour All-America Game camp tour kicked off in the state of Georgia and there was considerable talent on hand. Rivals connected with several prospects, parents and coaches surrounding the event and there are several programs trending or set to trend for many of the best on hand, so why not make some early calls on their college destination?
A breakout performer who drew buzz from the time he lined up and ran his 40-yard dash, Barber has exploded in the New Year with his scholarship offers and he anticipates taking considerable trips going forward. Several coaching staffs are working to earn an in with the productive wideout, but Miami and Ole Miss in particular are off to a strong start in his recruitment. From head coaches on down, both programs have found a way up the list for the Alabama native who wants to come off the board sooner rather than later. Barber grew up in SEC country, so we’ll lean towards Lane Kiffin for now.
Prediction: Ole Miss
Upon accepting his MVP award for the running back group on hand, Cowley walked up in Auburn slides and an AU backpack before admitting the program has long been his personal favorite. Many others are pushing for the 2027 top-50 prospect, including Oregon and Penn State with very personal recruiting pitches from big names at each program, but all others are looking up at the Tigers at this stage. There is comfort and familiarity there, along with the consistency coming from Hugh Freeze and company.
Prediction: Auburn
The big man is compiling a national offer list in the class of 2027 and he is fresh off of a visit to Texas A&M, where he was impressed and offered a scholarship. Florida State helped themselves with Lamons following a January visit, too, and more trips are on deck going forward, including one back to Georgia. The rising-junior seemingly has a different tone when talking about Kirby Smart and company and he admitted the coach getting to his school was a moment he won’t soon forget. With the Bulldogs also the team he grew up paying closest attention to, not to mention the tight end tradition, this recruitment starts in Athens.
Prediction: Georgia
The Buford star defensive back may become one of the nation’s most well-traveled recruits in the coming weeks and months, with trips planned to Georgia, Missouri, Miami, Tennessee, Oregon, Texas and others. But a longtime contender could be emerging up the list as of the last month or so. Ohio State has been among the most consistent programs with McCoy and the decision-makers in his camp, not to mention they made a massive impression on the field and in visiting with him soon after that national championship.
Prediction: Ohio State

This recruitment has blown up in recent weeks and McWhorter has taken the new offers and interest in stride. He is going to go public with his top options in the coming days but we know a few programs in rock solid shape with him at this time in Alabama, Clemson and Michigan. In hosting dozens of coaches, the big blocker admitted the detail that the Alabama coaching staff went in depth on — and followed up on — really impressed him between that day and his own visit back to Tuscaloosa soon after. A decision could come very soon here so that impression may go a long way without any visits on the upcoming radar.
Prediction: Alabama
The May to June window will feature five official visits to one of the most polished prospects at his position, and Perry-Wright will remain coveted thereafter. Auburn, Clemson, Georgia, Texas and Texas A&M are each locked in with a return trip over that span, and the rising-senior says he is pretty wide open at this point. We can see this one coming down to how much Smart and company push at Georgia, who doesn’t often miss up front and within state lines, but Clemson is also a program holding some buzz here.
Prediction: Clemson
Five official visits and/or de facto finalists are already known for the Peach State star, as in-state Georgia is set to battle Texas, Alabama, Auburn and Florida in this SEC battle. June will be critical as most of the official visits go down in that always-important time before the season begins and recruits like Prothro want to come off of the board. Still, at the tight end position and with the stability and length of the push from Kirby Smart and company, this one may be considered an upset if another program wins out.
Prediction: Georgia

One of the most feared edge prospects in the state of Georgia, Webb has a national offer list and he is nearing a big chop down his list as the spring approaches. January was a zoo at Collins Hill High School and many coaches came through, but one who really captured Webb’s attention was Mike Norvell at Florida State. It was also the first program he would mention when discussing contenders this weekend. Miami, Florida, Tennessee, Michigan, Indiana and others are working to get him back on campus going forward, but keep an eye on the Seminoles.
Prediction: Florida State
