The former CNN Center – now just called The Center – in Downtown Atlanta is about to get a serious makever.

The 1.2 million-square-foot space connected to State Farm Arena and the Omni Hotel is being transformed by its owner, commercial real estate developer and operator CP Group.

The Center is currently working with architecture and interior design firm TVS, general contractor Holder Construction, and Core Twelve for the branding of the redevelopment.

According to a press release from CP Group, the building will become “a hub of world-class retail, dining, content creation, and entertainment.”

CP Group said it’s already leased 10,000 square feet to an unnamed restaurant tenant.

The company is also partnering with Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and local creative and cultural advocates Neda Abghari and Bem Joiner to curate statement artwork for the space.

Additional details will be announced later this year, but projects underway include a large-scale interactive digital sculpture where the iconic CNN letters once sat, a variety of custom murals, and additional installations in The Center’s atrium.

CNN had its world headquarters at the building for nearly 40 years but moved its Atlanta operations to the new Tuner Techwood campus in Midtown last year.
