Watch: CCTV footage captures 'instant karma' as drug-fuelled thief crashes stolen bike in high-speed chase

A motorbike thief got a dose of ‘instant karma’ when he was flung off a stolen bike during a high-speed police chase in County Durham, Daily Mail reported.
Ciaran Parker, 20, was racing through Pelton on a stolen Kawasaki 300 when police signalled him to stop at around 10.30am on April 2 last year. Instead of pulling over, Parker—who was not wearing a helmet—sped up, hitting dangerous speeds of 60mph in a 30mph zone.
Dashcam footage captured Parker hurtling across junctions, swerving onto the wrong side of the road, and weaving through Chester-le-Street town centre. At one point, he narrowly missed a bus before finally losing control and crashing at 40mph.

CCTV captured shocked onlookers watching the crash from different angles. A mother quickly pulled her children away as Parker and the bike slid towards them. A young boy nearby was hurt by flying debris.
Bodycam footage captured officers approaching Parker, who lay on the ground, bleeding and crying out in pain.
“I need some painkillers!” he sobbed, before quickly adding, “Right, I know exactly what you’re gonna say, but I’ve just bought the f***ing bike man!”
An officer responded, “Ciaran, at the minute I couldn’t care less about that. My main concern is whatever injuries you’ve got.”
Parker had suffered an open fracture in his right leg, and blood soaked the back of his head. As paramedics applied a tourniquet to his shattered limb, he screamed in agony: “I’m in a bad way here. My ankle! My leg’s knacking!”
When asked by officers if he had taken drugs, Parker denied it, shouting: “No man! Get off my f***ing head!” However, tests later confirmed he had both cocaine and cannabis in his system.
Stolen bike and jail time
Investigations revealed the Kawasaki had been stolen from a home in Stanley at around 1.20am that same day. Parker was charged with multiple offences, including burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, dangerous driving, drug driving, driving without a licence, and driving without insurance.
He pleaded guilty at Durham Crown Court and was sentenced to 14 months in a Young Offender Institution.
In a police interview, Parker was shown footage of the crash. Cringing at the sight, he said, “I don’t even want to watch that.”
He added: “I bought that bike, you know?” before quickly shutting down the questioning with, “Aw listen – no comment. You’re wasting my time.”
Detective constable Michelle Leonard said Parker’s reckless riding could have ended in tragedy.
“This was an incredibly dangerous piece of riding,” she said. “He rode recklessly at very high speeds through residential areas, often on the wrong side of the road, before crashing the bike in the middle of a busy town centre. It is a miracle nobody was seriously injured or, worse, killed.”
DC Leonard welcomed Parker’s 14-month sentence, saying, “I hope it sends a clear message that driving dangerously, without a licence, and under the influence of drugs can have catastrophic consequences and that those who choose to do it will be brought to justice.”
