47. Google’s Notebook ML, Plus Word From the Feed
Never before have a I seen such gratuitous amounts of “Mind Blown” references regarding an AI-powered tool. It is amazing software with many different applications. What has captured everyone’s attention is it ability to crank out a rather high-quality podcast based on feeding it a URL which has content for them to talk about. And you can add additional references from uploaded documents to other URLs.
Notebook will sort it out into a show, and it sounds quite human and balanced. They nailed the humanity that needs to be present in the voices while it also coordinates a conversation between two different AI entities and all your content. It actually is quite amazing.
How easy is it?
Imagine a podcast host who’s convinced their show is the next big thing. To make sure they’re on the cutting edge, they decide to harness the power of NotebookLM.
-
The Data Dump: They gather every single listener comment, email, and social media interaction. It’s like trying to organize a cat’s toy box: impossible but oddly satisfying.
-
The Statistical Sideshow: They feed the data into NotebookLM, hoping it’ll magically turn their show into a ratings goldmine. Turns out, the only thing that’s magical about it is the amount of time it takes to run the analysis.
-
The Audio Editing: Using NotebookLM, they automate the editing process. It’s like having a robot assistant who’s always on time, never complains, and can remove background noise better than a professional sound engineer.
-
The Machine Learning Part of It: To truly elevate their show, they train a machine learning model to predict the perfect moment to drop a witty one-liner.
And so, armed with the power of NotebookLM, our podcast host is ready to conquer the world. Or at least their living room.
When I’m done typing this Edition 47, I will copy and paste the URL into NotebookLM and it will do the rest. The outcome of it will automatically upload into Spotify and embed link so you can listen to how NotebookLM sorted through this particular edition, and judge yourself the pluses and minuses.
Of note: I’ve discovered firsthand I needed to add some background sources for the output of this podcast. Because this Edition is briefer than most the AI hosts confused Seaweed as a game development tool versus generative video production. It needed more info. Just an FYI.
Whilst Sora slowly enters the world of vaporware, here’s yet more competition. Seaweed is ByteDance’s foray into AI and adding distance to Tik-Tok.
ByteDance, the app giant behind TikTok, is playing a high-stakes game. They’re ditching the casual creator crowd and aiming for the big leagues: serious filmmakers, animators, and businesses.
Think of Seaweed as the Swiss Army knife of video editing. It can do everything from turning your grandma’s backyard into a cinematic masterpiece to making your cat’s zoomies look like a professional dance routine.
You might be wondering, why would a company known for viral cat videos suddenly want to be the next Pixar? Well, it’s simple: money. A lot of it. By catering to high-end users, ByteDance can charge a premium for their tools, raking in the dough.
Sure, it is. But hey, who cares? They’ve already got billions of users. A few more won’t hurt. And besides, if it doesn’t work out, they can always go back to making viral cat videos.
