Pep Guardiola taunts Liverpool fans after Manchester City defeat

Liverpool are in control of the Premier League title race while Manchester City‘s freefall continues after their seventh-straight games without a win.

A 2-0 win over City on Monday morning (AEDT) moved Liverpool nine points clear at the top of the standings and 11 ahead of Pep Guardiola’s four-time defending champions.

Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah exposed the gap between the title rivals and emphasized the deepening crisis for Guardiola, whose side now sit in fifth spot.

It’s now seven games without a win for City in all competitions, including six losses.

The frustrations were clearly beginning to mount for Guardiola after the full-time whistle, reacting to brutal chants from Liverpool fans.

“You’re getting sacked in the morning,” the crowd at Anfield chanted at the City coach, who responded by raising six fingers for each of his Premier League title wins.

Guardiola is in the midst of the worst losing streak of his career, while Liverpool look to be the potential champs after such an impressive start under head coach Arne Slot.

Guardiola has now lost four straight league games for the first time as a manager. The last time City lost four in a row in the English top flight came in the 2008 season.
