The 292-room Hotel Phoenix topped out at the Centennial Yards development in Downtown on Dec. 18.

The hotel, expected to open next summer, is part of the $5 billion, 50-acre mixed-use development taking shape on property across from Mercedes-Benz Stadium and State Farm Arena formerly known as The Gulch

The hotel is named after the mythical bird symbolizing Atlanta and is located at the city’s historic birthplace, the Western & Atlantic Railway terminus.

“Centennial Yards is proud to be an important part of revitalizing Downtown Atlanta while honoring its rich history. Hotel Phoenix is located on a site with deep historical meaning, inspired by the mythical creature of the same name. Just as Atlanta once rose from the ashes of a fire, symbolizing renewal and growth, Centennial Yards is also emerging from its past. After many years of being underused, we look forward to contributing to the lively Atlanta that everyone in this city deserves,” Brian McGowan, President of Centennial Yards, said in a press release.

In addition to unveiling the name, the day was dedicated to honoring those who have helped transform the vision of the towers into a reality. The collaboration of numerous construction team members and subcontractors has been a notable aspect of the project, according to the press release.

Hotel Phoenix, located at 70 Centennial Olympic Park Dr. NW, will feature 292 guest rooms, including 15 suites and penthouses. There will also be a variety of dining options, such as a lobby coffee bar, a full-service all-day restaurant and bar, as well as a rooftop restaurant with its own private elevator entrance.

The hotel will boast approximately 15,000 square feet of flexible event space, including an 8,000-square foot ballroom that provides a panoramic view of the city and an outdoor event lawn. Additionally, guests can enjoy comfortable lounge areas, a resort-style pool complete with private cabanas and a fully equipped fitness center among the hotel’s amenities.

In addition to the hotel, the luxury apartment tower The Mitchell topped out in August with completion anticipated by next summer.

Earlier this year, Centennial Yards began work on its eight-acre entertainment district, which will feature 480,000 square feet dedicated to entertainment, retail and dining. A significant feature of this district will be Cosm, an immersive entertainment venue spanning approximately 70,000 square feet across three levels.
