Fishing licenses go on sale in Illinois Saturday

SPRINGFIELD — Beginning Saturday, your 2024 fishing license in the state of Illinois will no longer be valid. Fishing licenses, similar to other licenses made available by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR), expire at 11:59 p.m. on the final day of February.

Illinois residents 16 years of age and older will be able to purchase their 2025 fishing license beginning March 1 for $15. Other licenses are available through the IDNR website, including a lifetime fishing license for $435. Non-resident licenses and pricing information will also be available on the website.

ACUI Spring Championships this weekend in Sparta

The World Shooting and Recreational Complex will serve as the host of the Spring Central Midwest Conference Championships this weekend.

The event, part of the Clay Targets Shotgun Bowl Series, is a collegiate event that has been held at the World Shooting and Recreational Complex since 2023.

The event features American, sporting, and doubles shooting events, and officially kicked off on Friday. It will run through Sunday.

The facility is located near Sparta in Randolph County.

Black history hikes at Lincoln’s Tomb site

IDNR holds Black history hikes at Springfield’s Oak Ridge Cemetery near the Lincoln’s Tomb State Historic Site each year. This weekend, there will be hikes Saturday, March 1 and Sunday, March 2 set to begin at 2 p.m. each day.

Water and walking shoes are recommended.
